5 THINGS I LOVED IN JULY

July3

July – the first month where it should feel summer like summer has arrived… Well, as with most years, British ‘summer time’ has arrived with cold weather and rainy showers. Good job I’m escaping to the warmer climes of the Greek Epirus coast on Sunday for two weeks of exploring new coves and islands on boats, soaking up the local culture (most importantly the food) and lounging on my pink inflatable flamingo in the sparkling, turquoise pool of our villa. However, before I head off I thought I would share five things I have been loving this July.

1 – Lazy afternoons (hiding from the rain)

I don’t think there is a more cozy feeling than basking in the aromas of scented candles as the rain pounds against the windows on a grey afternoon… Add a steaming cup of green tea with added lemon and you have a recipe for a heavenly afternoon. As for the scented candle I have been loving, it’s one from Citta Design in the scent citrus and sage. If anyone has any candle recommendations leave them in the comments – I’m thinking my next purchase might need to be a Le Labo one!

2 – Balsamic Vinegar

Even if it doesn’t feel like summer, dipping some crunchy baguette into a mixture of oak aged balsamic vinegar and virgin olive oil makes me feel like I’m sitting in a restaurant in a French square. The perfect savoury combination!

3 – Exploring the South Hams

Every year we rent a house with friends in the town of Salcombe in Devon. Picnics on beaches for lunch and taking my annual dip in the freezing water with friends (wearing my new swim shorts) is enough to come away with a smile plastered across my face.

4 – AMAN’s YouTube Channel

Who doesn’t enjoy watching a beautifully crafted video of some of the most stunning destinations on earth? In true AMAN style, their videos are simply the epitome of the finest life has to offer. Many hotels in their portfolio are on my bucket list, but just be warned that you might catch a serious dose of wanderlust if you start exploring their brand!

5 – Aesop’s Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm

The only cure for tired and dry hands. This instantly absorbed balm has become a lux essential in my life. After a long day, massaging this into my hands is like therapy. For anyone who needs a little present to give themselves (because let’s face it, who doesn’t?) this is perfect for you.

I hope everyone had a great July too!
